The Forgotten Orchard Team: Under The Spotlight – Post 4: Catherine Idle

Our Autumn 2024 Forgotten Orchard tour is now underway, and we’re thrilled to take you behind the scenes to explore the inspiration behind the production and introduce the talented team bringing it to life. In this blog series, we’re shining the spotlight on the incredible individuals making it all happen, this time with a special focus on Stage Manager Catherine Idle (They / them).

What message or feeling from The Forgotten Orchard do you hope audiences walk away with?

I hope audiences walk away with an appreciation of what can be grown in Scotland and a desire to eat more locally grown food, and a craving for apples!

What’s one thing you’d like audiences to know about the behind-the-scenes work that goes into the play?

That it’s fun! I love my job and I’m really proud of the work that I do. It is very rewarding to be on this side of the creative process and I want more people to see working backstage as a potential career path.

Do you have a favourite type of apple and what are your favourite ways to prepare / eat it?

The sweeter and redder and juicer the better for me, and I am partial to slicing it up and eating it with crunchy peanut butter.
