Pollok Grows Together
During 2024-25, Eco Drama is collaborating with community members and organisations in Pollok, Glasgow, to plant a Community Orchard in the grounds of Pollok Community Centre.

Project Summary
During 2024-25, supported in part by the Glasgow Communities and Place fund, we have been collaborating with community members of all ages in Pollok, plus orchard specialists, to engage children and their communities through an arts-based approach, to design and plant a community orchard, plus 20 School Orchards across the city.

Creative Engagement
Eco Drama’s production The Forgotten Orchard toured to schools and community audiences in 2024 to engage, inspire and support the planting of the orchards.
Following Drama Artist led creative workshops in spring and autumn 2024, we worked with local children to create informal performances inspired by Scotland’s orchard heritage.
We will continue delivering a range of creative community events for people to get involved in in 2025 and beyond.
Community Involvement
We collaborated with Pollok residents to plant Pollok Community Orchard in November 2024 and are delivering a two year programme of events centred around the Orchard from 2024 – 2026, shaped with the community. Our first volunteer meet-up and Orchard Pruning & Aftercare Workshop, led by experienced horticulturist Andrew Lear, are happening in January 2025.

Get Involved
Our first Pollok Community Orchard Volunteer Meet-up is happening on Tuesday 28th January at Pollok Community Centre, 134 Langton Rd, Glasgow G53 5DP from 2pm – 3pm.
This is an opportunity to meet some of the other orchard volunteers, and find out a bit more about our plans for orchard maintenance, as well as some of the events and activities planned to take place over the next 2 years. We are aiming to have 1 meet up every 2 months (6 in 2025). For further information about the project, or to get involved as a volunteer, please get in touch with Jade Sturrock, Communications Manager – jade@ecodrama.co.uk
