Saffron Gillies is a participatory drama artist, facilitator, and performer specialising in working with young people and community members in a variety of settings. She initially trained in Musical Theatre, and then went on to focus on Creative Learning and Participation through undertaking an internship in Creative Learning with the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company in Edinburgh. Following on from this she has worked extensively across Scotland and is lucky to have worked with a wide range of organisations, including taking on a long term schools and nurseries residency as part of Dundee City Council’s ASPIRE Dundee programme (2019-2020), and a range of outdoor work with Glasgow based social enterprise What Happens Now? Ltd. In 2021 she completed an MA in Applied Arts and Social Practice at Queen Margaret University. Saffron is passionate about arts based learning and micro-activism, and places an emphasis within her work on opening up opportunities to all, and facilitating with a reflective, responsive, participant led approach. She is very excited to be joining the Out to Play project for 2021/22, having previously worked as a performer with Eco Drama in their 2021 outdoor theatre production ‘The Listening Tree’.
