Emily is a theatre-maker and director, committed to devising quality theatre and creative learning projects which nurture a sense of curiosity, wonder and care for our natural world. She is particularly interested in the potential of theatre to motivate social and environmental change, the place of the arts and creativity within the school curriculum, and sustainable theatre making.

She trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland gaining a BA in Contemporary Theatre Practice and worked as a devisor, performer, science communicator and drama facilitator in various settings across Scotland and Europe before founding Eco Drama in 2007.

For 19 years, Emily has driven the company’s artistic and financial success. She has secured major grants from the Scottish Government, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Glasgow City Council, and the UK Levelling Up Fund, while developing sustainable earned income to deliver impactful environmental arts education across Glasgow and Scotland.

As well as leading the company, Emily regularly works with other organisations presenting on Eco Drama’s work and delivering training, most recently for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Youth Theatre Arts Scotland.
