Co-devising with Plants: exploring gardening as performance at UNFIX Festival

Green Stage and The Living Stage in association with Eco Drama present this workshop as part of the UNFIX festival of performance and ecology, July 10-12 in Glasgow.

Co-devising with Plants: Exploring Gardening as Performance
Workshop

Saturday 11th July 5.30-7pm

Venue: CCA Glasgow, 350 Sauchiehall Street, G2 3JD Glasgow, United Kingdom

This workshop explores how experiences of gardening and food growing can shape performance and spatial design. It will offer participants the opportunity to investigate how gardening can shape bodies, minds, communities and the places they inhabit, as well as wider processes and narratives of social change. Working with improvised movement in response to plants, seeds, soil and gardening tools, the group will co-create a celebration of multi-sensory elements that will culminate in a shared space for listening and story-telling over a cup of herbal tea. Drawing on interviews with gardeners from Cardiff, we will explore the concept of story-compost, where by fragments of stories are layered into a soundscape, and new stories they bring to mind in the listeners, are told, recorded and added to the mulch.

Afternoon Tea provided. Please bring an object which signifies a personal connection to ecology and/or gardening.
